Candidate Profile

In addition to having a Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as remote sensing, meteorology, physics, IT and/or Computational Science, the key person shall have a experience in the field of physical remote sensing, including involvement in processing of satellite data up to level 1 (L1).
Level 1 processing performance engineering
Level 1 satellite data processing, especially for imager instruments
Scientific code development and testing (experience with legacy programming language eg: Fortran and C++ and/or Python and MATLAB.
Satellite product validation and quality monitoring
Corrective and evolutive maintenance of processing chains
Agile development and configuration control, version management and testing (Gitlab, CI/CD)
Fluency in command-line use on Linux/Unix platforms;
Quality control of satellite data and products;
•Image processing with the knowledge of: Stray light correction, Characterization/calibration of Optical instrument/detector and Radiometric correction

Good to have:

Working in a real-time operational environment
Working knowledge of Java
Familiarity with specialized frameworks such as Pytroll and Satpy.
Radiative transfer models
Fluency in English is mandatory; this is the working language at EUMETSAT, and the Contractors must be able to work effectively in this language both in written and spoken form.
