Want your software working on a live aerospace mission? We are looking for a talented, highly motivated software engineer/developer to design, build and maintain the in-house tools that power MTG satellite operations.
Mandatory Skills and Experiences
University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent work experience), with a background of at least 3 years in software development
Proven experience designing, developing, testing and maintaining production software applications
Strong proficiency in Python, including building desktop GUI applications for Windows and Linux (e.g. PyQt6 / PySide)
Proficiency with version control and collaborative development workflows (Git / GitLab)
Experience developing with and using containerization technologies (e.g. Docker)
Ability to translate requirements from non-developer stakeholders into reliable, maintainable software
Able to work independently and autonomously, with a strong focus on fully understanding the requirements of the customer
Strong written and spoken English communication skills
Advantageous Skills and Experiences
Experience working with structured and scientific data formats (e.g. NetCDF, Excel)
Sound hands-on experience reading, filtering and transforming scientific satellite data (NetCDF via netCDF4) and Excel datasets (pandas, openpyxl) into operation-ready formats
Sold experience building parsers and validators for binary and scientific data formats, including automatic detection of missing, duplicate or out-of-range data
Experience automating operational workflows through REST API integrations (e.g. Jira REST API)
Sound hands-on experience packaging, delivering and supporting Python applications on Windows, including dependency resolution and environment setup
Ability to consolidate multiple manual operational tasks into single, reliable applications
Experience with VBA (MS Excel)
Knowledge or experience of aerospace engineering or the space domain
