Candidate Profile

In addition to having a Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as remote sensing, meteorology, physics, IT and/or Computational Science, the key person shall have a experience in the field of physical remote sensing, including involvement in processing of satellite data from level 1 (L1) to level 2 (L2).
Level 2 processing engineering
Level 2 satellite data processing, especially for imager instruments.
Scientific code development and testing
Satellite product validation and quality monitoring
Corrective and evolutive maintenance of processing chains
Fluency in command-line use on Linux/Unix platforms;
Quality control of satellite data and products;
A background in Python development with an emphasis on software engineering

Good to have:

Familiarity with specialized frameworks such as Pytroll and Satpy.
Working in a real-time operational environment
Radiative transfer models
Knowledge in atmospheric motion vector and/or 3D wiind would be appreciated
Proficiency in Java, especially with a focus on leveraging Apache Kafka, aimed at enhancing the operational activities of the level 2 processing facility (L2PF)
Agile development and configuration control, version management and testing (Gitlab, CI/CD)
Fluency in English is mandatory; this is the working language at EUMETSAT, and the Contractors must be able to work effectively in this language both in written and spoken form.
