TASKS
The tasks of the Key person will include:
- Analysis of product change proposals
- Design, implementation and validation of updated/new algorithms
- Documentation of changes related to product updates
- Preparation of technical notes on product implementation issues
- Development, maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software and the corresponding database
- Monitoring and operating the product generation facilities
- Visualisation and analysis of geophysical products
PROFILE
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing, the Consultant shall have minimum of 5 years of experience in operational product generation from satellite/remote sensing data. In addition, experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data is highly desirable.
Specifically the key person shall have:
- Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 90/95 Intel/GNU/Linux and/or IBM/POWER/AIX environments
- Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification and their documentation
- Source code control systems: Subversion and/or git
- Anomaly correction processes
- Python and IDL programming languages
- Common meteorological data formats, i.e., BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF
- Authoring clear and concise technical documentation
The following areas of expertise would be an advantage:
- Algorithm software development using C++/C programming language
- The operating systems: GNU/Linux and AIX
- Relational databases using SQL
